Home

Home lies buried

under cottonwood

tree’s dry leaves

and brittle branches’

grasp, within weeds

grown greedy for

sky in our week

long absence, in

fetid air released

when doors open

to our return,

our own hold in

a world too wide

for us to survive

longer than it

takes to drive home.
